Born in Bangkok, Thailand, Norman’s family worked very hard to bring him to the United States. Things were moving forward until the tsunami of 2004 wiped out all of Norman’s immigration paperwork, lengthening the process. Norman finally came to the United States when he was five years old, with a toy Batmobile in his hands. Norman’s dad taught him how to bathe, then how to shower. Every morning, Norman would run up to his sleeping mom, get on one knee and say “I love you Khunmaa!” He enjoyed driving to school in his dad’s black Corvette, which he called the Batmobile. He attended Tae Kwando five days a week and achieved black belt by the age of twelve. The two would head off to Dairy Queen, then to the family’s own restaurant to assist with dinner service, then finally off their own sushi dinner. He attended South Elgin High School, and worked hard at his family’s business, Thai Town restaurants in South Elgin (two locations), Wheeling, Sycamore, Campton Hills, and Elgin. Norman took ownership of the Sycamore branch last year. Norman was becoming an astute businessman, taking ownership of the Sycamore branch last year. He had aspirations of attending law school in order to represent and advocate for Thai immigrants and their business pursuits. Norman really wanted to leave his mark. He loved animals, music, sushi, and singing (particularly soul songs). He was definitely a momma’s boy and had a very strong and close relationship with his mother and maternal grandmother. Adored son of Kalayakorn “Koliko” Senanan Bogaert of South Elgin and Thomas Bogaert of Bartlett. Dear brother of Chanel Nicole Bogaert, loving partner of Wantana “Jennie” Jantakhet, and cherished grandson of Yachai Thaptong of South Elgin, Jacqueline Bogaert of Streamwood, and the late Nopporn Senanan. Norman is also survived by his biological father Damrong Pornthepsiripong and his aunt Yanitha “Poppy” Senanan, both of Bangkok as well as many other relatives in Illinois, California, and Thailand. The family has chosen private cremation arrangements. A series of Thai Buddhist memorial events are being planned at Wat Pa Natural Buddhist Meditation Temple of Greater Chicago in Burbank, Wat Phrasriratanamahatatu 4735 N.
