Sheridan Gorman

Sheridan Grace Gorman, 18, of Yorktown Heights, New York, was tragically taken from her family far too soon, leaving behind a depth of love and light that will never fade. Sheridan was the beloved daughter of Jessica (Simonds) and Thomas Gorman, and the cherished sister of Madelon Gorman, all of Yorktown Heights. She was the center of her family’s world—their joy, their laughter, their light. She is survived by her loving grandparents: Thomas and Columbia Gorman of Brant Lake, New York; Paula Cannata of Stoughton, Massachusetts; and Saul and Nava Ben-Meyer of Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is also survived by her devoted uncle and aunt, Marc and Nacole (Simonds) Zeevalk and her adored “baby cuz,” Lilla Zeevalk, as well as her fun-loving “guncles” Keith and Max Sorett-Gorman, along with her lifelong friends/confidantes Kaitlyn Sheehy and Annie Durante along with countless family members and dear friends who loved her deeply and she in return adored. Sheridan was a proud Yorktown girl through and through, and she carried that pride everywhere she went. She attended Yorktown High School, where she was an athlete and a leader, participating in field hockey, lacrosse, and bowling among many other activities. Beyond her own HS teams, she gave back to the next generation, coaching for many years with our incredible Yorktown Athletic Club, where she herself was an athlete for many years before pouring her heart into mentoring younger athletes and building their confidence both on and off the field. She loved her hometown of Yorktown with a fierce loyalty—cheering loudly for her school, her teams, and her community. And she loved Loyola University Chicago, where she had begun building the next chapter of her life, embracing it with the same excitement, warmth, and spirit that defined everything she did. Sheridan was everyone’s cheerleader in every sense of the word. She had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and believed in. People often say someone “lit up a room” or had “inner and outer beauty,” but in Sheridan’s case, those phrases fall way too short. She radiated something even greater—a rare and unmistakable warmth, a spirit that was vibrant, compassionate, and full of life. She was funny, kind, and deeply loving, with a heart that made space for everyone. She loved fiercely—her family, her friends, her community, and her faith. She brought people together, lifted them up, and made the ordinary moments feel extraordinary simply by being in them. Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the communities of Loyola University Chicago as well as their treasured hometown of Yorktown, for surrounding them with unwavering love, support, and compassion during this unimaginable time. They also extend their sincere thanks to law enforcement and all of their efforts to date in finding justice for Sheridan. Though her life was far too short, Sheridan’s impact is immeasurable. She will forever be remembered as a bright, beautiful soul whose love continues to shine in all who knew her. A private service for close friends and family will be held at The First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown on Saturday, March 28th at 2pm. In addition, there will be a special community vigil/sharing for all who knew her and anyone who would like to celebrate her life with her family and loved ones currently being coordinated with details to be released soon.
