Janet Weeks

Janet "Jan" Lynn Weeks, 75, of Evanston, passed away August 14, 2025, after a four-year battle with Pyoderma gangrenosum, peripheral artery disease, and coronary artery disease. Born in Detroit, MI, Jan graduated from Trenton High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, where she was a member of the Green Splash Synchronized Swimming Team. She was married briefly, during which time she moved from Michigan to New York, before returning to the Midwest, landing in Chicago, then to Detroit to raise her daughter, then back to Chicago to continue to be near her daughter. Jan enjoyed a long and successful career in advertising sales at many high-profile media properties including USA Network, Syfy, and The Weather Channel. She loved tennis and sailing, and had a bit of a sweet tooth. She is survived by her daughter Jenna Marie Weeks, to whom she was very close. Jan and Jenna were a big part of each other’s lives, which created a very deep and loving bond. Jan was a single working parent and despite the challenges that come with it, always did her best in raising Jenna and setting her up for success in life. Jenna worked very hard to care for her mother towards the end of her life. When Jan retired, she adopted a puppy - Layla, a white and black pittie mix. They were the best of friends, and Layla went everywhere Jan went, including walks at the lakefront. Layla was very protective of Jan as her mobility declined and would never take her eyes off Jan. Jenna and Layla are embarking on a new journey together symbolizing for each other the memories of their mom. Jan will also be deeply missed by her older brother James “Jim” Weeks of Claremont, CA and her best friends Diane Johnston of North Carolina, Meg (Glen) Turner of New Jersey, and Kathy (Roger) Faust of Florida. She was the fond aunt of Tracy (Scott) Klauder, and Brandon (Lisa) and Kevin Weeks and the great-aunt of Maya and Lucy Klauder and Parker and Tyler Weeks. Former partner and co-parent John (the late Karen) Bellino. Preceded in death by parents Charles Robert Weeks and Naomi Gertrude Weeks (nee Mahrley) and beloved feline friend Gracie. A memorial service and luncheon will be held on August 22nd, with services starting at 1pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church (3309 N.
