Carole Ann Pryzby

Carole Ann Pryzby (nee Patrick), 81, retired teacher; of Lincolnwood, Illinois, formerly of Madison Hts., Michigan; transitioned into Divine love and light, February 20, 2023. Born in Detroit, Carole graduated salutatorian from Kimball High School (now Royal Oak H.S.). She earned her B.A. in Education with honors from Eastern Michigan University. She taught elementary school for seven years until the birth of her son in 1970. Two years later, the loss of her husband compelled Carole to further her work as an educator, with specialties in bereavement, personal growth, career planning, and assertiveness training. In 1985, Carole received her M.Ed with honors from Wayne State University. She taught elementary school for 27 years at Lamphere Schools, until retirement in 2013. Carole lived her life dedicated to serving others and had a creative flair that sparked beauty in her crafts, home, and garden. She was a dedicated member of her church community at First United Methodist Church of Warren for over 50 years. Beloved mother of Eric Michael Pryzby, adored mother-in-law of Laura Bouton Kidd Pryzby, devoted grandmother of Brian Delbert Pryzby and Nathan Roderic Pryzby, dear sister of Janice Lee (the late Neil) McCormack and Christopher Alan Law. My mom passed away Monday evening. I was by her side as she took her last breath and transitioned into Divine love and light. Thank you for all of your beautiful, heartfelt messages and prayers. They meant so much to my mom and helped us reflect on the boundless love and support that she had throughout her life. You carried her through the joys and sorrows of her journey. And for that, I extend my most heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. My mom was an inspiration. She overcame adversity to redefine herself with such dignity and reverence. She lived a life dedicated to serving others and had a wonderful flair for creativity that sparked beauty in her crafts, home and gardens. To her church family: You supported and nurtured her for nearly 60 years. You laughed, cried, loved and journeyed with her. You’ve always been with her, and she will always be with you. To fellow teachers, administrators, and students that she touched through her career as an educator: Know that she carried you in her heart and was so proud to be a part of your lives. She cared deeply for all of you, and it was her life’s work to help serve others with and through you. To friends and colleagues that partnered with her in civic organizations and engagements: Know that your shared commitment to community and service is a respected honor that she cherished. You gave her a forum and platform to continue making a difference. To so many other beloved friends, neighbors and service providers: Please know that she loved you, and you held a treasured place in her heart. Thank you for being a part of my mom’s life and for all that you’ve meant to her. To her family and dearest friends: Your love and prayers held and comforted her throughout her life. You were her rock. She loved you more than can be expressed, and her spirit and presence will always be with you. As we all process my mom’s passing, know that she is at peace. She was the most devoted grandma to Brian and Nathan, with her boundless love and pride for them shining through even the most challenging days. My wife Laura was my mom’s angel as she faced the uncertainties of illness and end of life. Laura carried, counseled, and comforted her with such deep compassion, reverence and pure love. My love and appreciation for my mom is beyond what I could ever speak or write. We have always shared, and will continue to hold, a deep bond and connection. I learned so much about life’s journey through her and so honor and respect her. Being with her and caring for her until her final breath was a profound gift. Laura and I will be taking some time to sort and process our emotions and necessary details over the next few weeks. Know that we are tentatively planning to have a beautiful celebration of my mom’s life with friends and family back in Michigan in late spring or early summer.
