Frederick Huth

Frederick Joseph Huth, 67, of Andersonville, from Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, passed away on January 23, 2025. Born to his parents, Fred and Helen Huth, and raised in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood. Fred graduated from Gordon Tech High School. He shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings, with whom he shared countless memories. He held an impeccable work ethic from an early age, whether at Central Radiator Cabinet Co., (fashioning functional steel cabinetry to cover steam radiators) or later, as a mover and long-haul truck driver. He enjoyed weightlifting, played in the Monday night church volleyball league, and found solace and excitement in nature. Boating, camping, hiking, and also cycling on the paths up & down Lake Michigan. Fred fished and boated with a 1965 Mercury 110 Outboard (which he worked on regularly to keep in running condition), on many nearby lakes including Shabbona, Crab Orchard, Little Grassy, Devils Kitchen, and Fox Lake. He took his family camping at Apple River Canyon State Park and many other state parks and camp grounds, hiking up Mount Baldy at the Indiana Dunes, and traveled by car to Maine to visit family, with a stop at the Canadian Niagara Falls along the way. They traveled to the South Dakota Badlands, Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, and visited wind caves. He enjoyed baking his mother's double chocolate cake with homemade fudge frosting, which soon became the requested yearly birthday cake of his daughter. Fred also gave the best hugs and loved adventurous bike rides with his granddaughters Sophie and Ava. Fred was an amazing son-in-law. He deeply respected and loved his wife's parents and was always willing to do anything to make their lives a little easier. Fred's life was a testament to his faith-filled spirit. His love for the Lord was the compass that guided his life. A devoted husband to his wife, Laura, Fred was the cornerstone of his family. He was both strict and firm, in a loving way, concerning himself with matters of faith and family. He taught life lessons on perseverance, integrity, standing for what is right and true, being truthful, having a cheerful heart despite adversity, and focusing on eternal things. Fred held fast to his beliefs around Sabbath-keeping. He taught Sabbath School classes, served as a Pathfinder counselor, hosted Bible studies in his home, and held leadership positions at North Shore SDA church as a deacon and elder. Fred shared his faith directly and indirectly and would talk with anyone about Biblical concepts. He consistently came from a heart of furthering Christ’s ministry of love and redemption. For him, knowing the truth, walking in that truth, and leading others into a relationship with Jesus was very important. Fred Huth is remembered for his strong character, religious faith, and dedication to family and community. His life exemplified perseverance, integrity, and a commitment to his beliefs, even in the face of adversity. Fred lived a life in service to his heavenly Father. A life that was beautifully lived and a journey completed with grace. Beloved spouse and best friend of over fifty years to Laura Huth (nee Manoogian). Devoted father of Noah (Ashley) Huth and Eden (Nathen) Grigsby. Proud and loving grandpa of Jonah, and Shaley, and "Pop Pop" to Sophie, Ava, and Ella. Beloved brother of Rosemary Gardner, Madeline (Jim) Finger, Janice Huth, and Linda (Greg) Molda. Brother-in-law of Bob (Terri) Manoogian, Victoria Tiffany, and Adam (Denice) Manoogian. Uncle of Dolores, Melinda, Emily, Teresa, Larry, Margie, Mary, Patty, Tony, Melissa, Courtney, Aaron, Adam, Christopher, Eve, Adam, Connor, Katherine, Camille, and Cyrus. Preceded in death by parents Frederick Cleveland Huth and Helen Agnes (nee Sempsis) Huth, siblings Michael and Dolores Huth, and father- and mother in-law, Robert and Eve Manoogian.
