Christian Robertson Olson

Christian Robertson Olson departed this life on his 55th birthday at home beside his loving husband of 33 years and their beloved kitties on Friday, August 30, 2024, after a two-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Christian was born in New York City, NY, on August 30, 1969, and was a man of many talents and passions. His love for theater, film, and music was evident in everything he did. Christian graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL, and continued his education at Columbia College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He honed his improv and acting skills at the Second City Training Center, the Annoyance Theater, the iO Training Center (Improv Olympics), and Victory Gardens Theater. He was also a graduate of the distinguished Second City Conservatory. Christian's talents extended beyond the arts, as he had impressive business acumen and was a valued partner in his husband Tom's real estate business. He also worked at the Wax Trax! Record label and Vintage Vinyl Record Store in Evanston, IL. Christian is survived by his husband, partner, and best friend of 33 years, Thomas (Tom) Brian Feddor. Their love was evident in every aspect of their lives, including their shared love for their two cats, Addie Pray and Bob. He was also a loving pet owner to their previous kitties, Mary, Niles, and Edwina. Christian is survived by his mother, Nancy Lamkin Olson, his loving aunt, Anita Olson, and his brothers, Jeremiah Olson (Margaret McMahon) and Kevin (Rene) Olson. Christian was also a beloved uncle to Sadie McMahon, Owen McMahon, Zoe Olson, and Zach Olson. Beloved extended family members Michael & Cheri Long, their daughter Allison, and Son Benjamin (Amy Wright-Long) Long. He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Kurt Alan Olson, and his infant sister from his mother's previous marriage, Meegan McAtee. A private cremation ceremony will be held for family members. A public church service and reception dedicated to celebrating Christian's life, his achievements, and the love he shared with everyone, are planned for 12pm September 28, 2024, at Grace Place Episcopal Church, 637 S. Dearborn St, Chicago, IL. Doors open 11:30am. A reception will immediately follow the service. Donations may be made to Christian's GoFundMe or The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Tom has requested that everyone perform a random act of kindness in Christian's honor on Saturday, September 28, 2024, to continue Christian's legacy of love and compassion.
