Desplácese hacia abajo para ver el obituario en español. --------------- Arturo Del Cid, aka "Arturito" and "Arty", 81, of Chicago's Belmont-Cragin neighborhood, skilled carpenter and talented guitarist, passed away September 15, 2025 after a sudden brain bleed. Born in Palencia, Guatemala City, Guatemala to a family of a dozen children, Arturo worked several places including the Coca-Cola factory, before developing his tailoring skills. In his early 20's while working in the mens' suit department of a department store, he noticed a lovely young coworker who was modeling new outfits. Arturo and Zoila recognized each other from school days, dated, married, and had three children in Guatemala and a fourth after immigrating to the United States a few family members at a time. They raised their family in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. Arturo worked as a carpenter during the day and as a musician at Ravenswood Presbyterian Church and at private events on the weekends. About twenty years ago, the couple relocated to Belmont-Cragin. Arturo and Zoila enjoyed a strong marriage until her death in 2021. Arturo was a man filled with love, peace, strength, and kindness. He gave so much of himself to others. Music brought him joy, and there was rarely a moment when he wasn't with his guitar, singing. He learned everything on his own - playing, singing, and facing life's trials without ever giving up. He inspired us every single day. Our dad was, and always will be, our everything. Though he is gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts. Arturo was the devoted father of Norma Del Cid, Nancy, (Rogelio Quintero) Del Cid, Holger (Carmen) Del Cid, and Lizbett Del Cid; loving grandfather ("Abuelito") of Sebastian Del Cid, Zoe Quintero, Benjamin Del Cid, and Olivia Del Cid. He was also the faithful companion of Ezy the goldendoodle and many others who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Preceded in death by wife Zoila Mancilla Del Cid, parents Simon Del Cid-Albizurez and Juvencia Villalta-Rodriguez Del Cid, and one infant son. The family selected a private cremation. Nacido en Palencia, Ciudad de Guatemala, en el seno de una familia numerosa, Arturo trabajó en diversos lugares, incluyendo la fábrica de Coca-Cola, antes de perfeccionar sus habilidades como sastre. Alrededor de los veinte años, mientras trabajaba en la sección de trajes de caballero de una tienda departamental, conoció a una encantadora joven compañera que modelaba ropa nueva. Arturo y Zoila se reconocieron desde la escuela, fueron novios, se casaron y tuvieron tres hijos en Guatemala y un cuarto después de emigrar a Estados Unidos con algunos familiares a la vez. Criaron a su familia en el barrio Logan Square de Chicago. Arturo trabajaba como carpintero durante el día y como músico en la Iglesia Presbiteriana Ravenswood y en eventos privados los fines de semana. Hace aproximadamente veinte años, la pareja se mudó a Belmont-Cragin. Arturo y Zoila disfrutaron de un matrimonio sólido hasta el fallecimiento de ella en 2021. Arturo era un hombre lleno de amor, paz, fortaleza y bondad. Se entregó por completo a los demás. La música le brindaba alegría, y casi siempre estaba con su guitarra, cantando. Aprendió todo por sí mismo: a tocar, a cantar y a afrontar las dificultades de la vida sin jamás rendirse. Nos inspiró cada día. Nuestro papá fue, y siempre será, nuestro todo. Aunque ya no lo vemos, siempre lo llevaremos en el corazón. Arturo fue el padre devoto de Norma Del Cid, Nancy (Rogelio Quintero) Del Cid, Holger (Carmen) Del Cid y Lizbett Del Cid; y el cariñoso abuelo de Sebastián Del Cid, Zoe Quintero, Benjamín Del Cid y Olivia Del Cid. También fue el fiel compañero de Ezy, el goldendoodle, y de muchos otros que ya partieron hacia el cielo. Le precedieron en la muerte su esposa Zoila Mancilla Del Cid, sus padres Simon Del Cid-Albizurez y Juvencia Villalta-Rodriguez Del Cid, y un hijo pequeño. La familia optó por una cremación privada. El servicio conmemorativo se llevará a cabo el sábado 8 de noviembre a la 1 p. m. en la Iglesia Presbiteriana Mayfair (antes Iglesia Presbiteriana Ravenswood), ubicada en 4358 W.
